Project modification via missing API permission checks
Published May 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Broken access control in Octopus Server 2021.3 and 2022.1 allows remote authenticated users to modify Git-backed projects through the API. The project API fails to verify modification permissions for projects using Git version control and accepts writes from accounts holding only ProjectView. ProjectView access is required, and exploitation changes project configuration or content without the intended write authorization.
