Reflected XSS via unescaped dashboard search
Published Jul 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in WP Event Manager before 3.1.28 allows remote attackers to run scripts in an authenticated user's browser via a crafted link. The event dashboard writes the search_keywords query value into an HTML attribute without sanitizing or context-appropriate escaping. The victim must be authenticated and open the crafted dashboard URL; injected script then executes in the site's origin with access to data and actions available on that page.
