CVE-2022-1437

Memory disclosure and crash via symbols-file over-read

Published Apr 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Heap over-read in radare2 before 5.7.0 allows context-dependent attackers to disclose process memory or crash it via a crafted symbols file. The symbols-file parser advances its cursor without first ensuring that four machine words remain, so malformed section data drives reads beyond the heap buffer. Exploitation requires a user to process an attacker-supplied symbols file; the bounded consequences are memory disclosure and a process crash.
