Browser script execution via unsanitized login redirect
Published May 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
DOM-based XSS in the login endpoint of OctoPrint before 1.8.0 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through a crafted redirect URL. The login view accepted the redirect query parameter and passed absolute or JavaScript-scheme URLs onward without restricting their scheme or network location. Exploitation requires a victim to follow the crafted login link and runs attacker-controlled script in that browser, enabling OctoPrint session theft and account takeover.
