CVE-2022-1427Public exploit

Local code execution via unchecked target class

Published Apr 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

An out-of-bounds read in mruby before 3.2 allows local users to crash the interpreter or execute arbitrary code via crafted Ruby. During super dispatch for a prepended class, mrb_vm_exec passes an unvalidated target_class to mrb_obj_is_kind_of, which reads outside the intended object. The user must be able to run Ruby code through the interpreter or an embedding application, and successful exploitation affects that process.
