CVE-2022-1424Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthorized site changes via unprotected AJAX actions

Published Jun 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Cross-site request forgery in the AskMe WordPress theme before 6.8.2 allows remote attackers to alter site state through crafted AJAX requests. The askme_update_options and askme_reset_options actions accept state-changing requests without CSRF checks, while best_answer actions trust supplied comment IDs. A logged-in user must be induced to submit the crafted request; demonstrated effects include wiping or resetting theme options and changing accepted-answer status.
