CVE-2022-1399Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated root code execution via SSH argument injection

Published Aug 16, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Argument injection in Device42 CMDB before 18.01.00 allows remote authenticated users to execute code as root through discovery tasks. The alternate-SSH path passes a stored username into sshpass and Bash without neutralizing command arguments, so a crafted username becomes a shell command. An account with System Generated Read and Add rights and permission to create and run a *nix or Cisco NX-OS discovery task is sufficient; successful exploitation grants full appliance access.
