Unauthenticated file read via unvalidated path parameter
Published Apr 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in Brooks24 Admin Word Count Column 2.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a crafted path parameter. The unauthenticated download-csv.php endpoint passes its path parameter directly to readfile() without validating or constraining the requested filesystem path. Exploitation requires an older PHP runtime for the documented null-byte technique; the published assessment also identifies Phar deserialization as a remote-code-execution path.
