Arbitrary DLL write via traversal in restore archives
Published Aug 17, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Path traversal in Softing Secure Integration Server 1.22 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write a DLL outside a restored archive. The restore function extracts a ZIP member containing parent-directory segments into C:\Windows\System32\wbem\wbemcomn.dll instead of confining it to the restore directory. Administrator access to the configuration UI is required, and code execution additionally depends on a DLL-loading condition such as the separately tracked search-path flaw.
