CVE-2022-1355Public exploit

Local process crash via repeated mode options

Published Aug 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Stack buffer overflow in LibTIFF tiffcp before 4.4.0 allows local users to crash the utility through repeated mode options. The main function appends each -8, -B, -L, -M, or -C option to the fixed 10-byte mode array without checking its remaining capacity. Local execution with control of tiffcp arguments is required; the demonstrated result is an abort after an out-of-bounds one-byte write.
