Administrator-level stored XSS via unescaped Timeline Text
Published Aug 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Rich Web Event Timeline – Vertical Timeline 1.1.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script via Timeline Text. The plugin saves Timeline Text without sanitizing it and renders the stored value without escaping, allowing embedded markup or script to run in a viewer's browser. An administrator-level account is required, even when WordPress disables unfiltered_html, and execution requires another user to view the affected timeline.
