CVE-2022-1302Network attack vector

Application crashes via oversized GOOSE octet strings

Published Apr 12, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Improper input validation in the GOOSE subscriber in MZ Automation libIEC61850 before 1.5.1 allows remote attackers to crash applications. The parseAllData function copies a newly received octet string into an existing dataset-value buffer without reallocating it when the element exceeds the original capacity. The affected application must enable a GOOSE subscriber and process the crafted message; the documented consequence is a service-interrupting crash.
