Application crash via out-of-range effect index
Published Apr 10, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
A denial of service in tildearrow Furnace before 2022-04-09 allows remote attackers to crash the application with a crafted FUR file. The pattern-row renderer in src/gui/pattern.cpp used an effect value above 0xff to index extFxColors after subtracting 0xe0, causing an out-of-bounds access instead of rejecting the invalid value. A user must open or convert the malicious module; the resulting process crash interrupts that Furnace instance.
