CVE-2022-1240Network attack vector

Process crash via relocation symbol off-by-one

Published Apr 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Heap buffer overflow in radare2 before 5.8.6 allows attackers to crash the process by inducing analysis of a crafted Mach-O file. The parse_relocation_info routine accepts a relocation symbol index equal to the symbol-table count, then uses the out-of-range entry while copying its name through r_str_ncpy. Opening or analyzing an attacker-supplied Mach-O file is required; the documented consequence is a heap overrun and process crash, while code execution remains unconfirmed.
