Memory disclosure via unchecked CRIS instruction length
Published Apr 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in radare2 before 5.6.8 allows local users to disclose process memory by having a victim analyze CRIS code. The analop function in libr/anal/p/anal_cris.c reads buf[0] and, on several paths, buf[1] without first ensuring that the supplied instruction buffer contains one or two bytes. A victim must process truncated CRIS instruction data; the one-byte over-read exposes adjacent process memory and can crash the analysis process.
