CVE-2022-1197Network attack vector

Compromised-key trust via ignored revocation reason

Published Dec 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Improper OpenPGP key validation in Mozilla Thunderbird before 91.8 allows remote attackers to preserve a compromised key's trusted status. The key-import path fails to replace an existing non-revoked key when the imported revocation packet uses the key-compromise reason code. A user must import the specially revoked key; other reason codes and revocations without a reason are handled correctly.
