CVE-2022-1176Network attack vector

Chat-data disclosure via loose hash comparison

Published Mar 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Type confusion in Live Helper Chat before 3.96 allows remote attackers to read other users' chat data through widget REST API requests. Seven endpoint handlers compare a stored chat hash with a request-supplied hash using PHP loose equality, allowing type coercion to satisfy the authorization check. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the documented consequence is chat-data disclosure without data modification or service interruption.
