CVE-2022-1161Network attack vector

Program-code concealment via split source and bytecode

Published Apr 11, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Code injection in all versions of Rockwell Automation Logix controllers allows attackers to hide malicious logic from engineering users. Studio 5000 Logix Designer stores user-readable source separately from executed compiled code, so user-program modification access permits alteration of only the compiled representation. Unauthenticated EtherNet/IP deployments can expose that access through a separate authentication-bypass flaw, allowing executed logic to diverge from displayed source.
