CVE-2022-1160Public exploit

Editor crash via unterminated sourced buffer line

Published Mar 30, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Heap buffer overflow in Vim before 8.2.4647 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the editor through a crafted sourced file. get_one_sourceline concatenates a source-buffer line without allocating and appending a terminating NUL, allowing a later read to pass the copied line's boundary. A user must open and source attacker-controlled content; the publicly documented consequence is an editor crash.
