Stored XSS via unescaped database prefix
Published Apr 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in the Books & Papers WordPress plugin through 0.20210223 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via DB prefix settings. The Custom DB prefix setting is stored without output escaping, so attacker-supplied markup is rendered as executable script in a later page view. Administrator-level access is required, and execution depends on another user viewing the affected output, exposing that user's browser data and actions.
