CVE-2022-1118

Code execution via unrestricted object deserialization

Published May 17, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Unsafe deserialization in three Rockwell Automation workbench products allows attackers to execute code through a crafted project archive. In Connected Components Workbench, the CCWARC parser accepts user-supplied serialized object types without restriction and instantiates them during loading. Execution requires a local user to open the file and runs in that user's process context; affected releases include Connected Components Workbench 13.00.00 and earlier, ISaGRAF Workbench 6.0 through 6.6.9, and AADvance-Trusted SIS Workstation 1.2 and earlier for Trusted Controllers.
