CVE-2022-1068

Application crash via registration-field buffer overflow

Published Apr 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Modbus Tools Modbus Slave 7.4.2 and earlier allows local users to crash the application. The registration field mishandles a long character string, writing beyond its stack buffer and terminating the process. Triggering the flaw requires user interaction with a crafted registration string; the documented consequence is an application crash only.
