CVE-2022-1003Network attack vector

Restricted configuration changes via privilege chaining

Published Mar 18, 2022 · Updated Dec 6, 2024

Authorization bypass in Mattermost 6.3.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter restricted server settings. The configuration update API incorrectly combines distinct administrative privileges instead of enforcing per-setting restrictions, allowing protected fields such as PluginSettings.EnableUploads to be overwritten. A system-administrator account and network access to the authenticated API are required; successful exploitation changes protected configuration and can enable plugin uploads.
