CVE-2022-0997Public exploit

Root command execution via writable login script

Published May 17, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Improper file permissions in Fidelis Network and Deception before 9.4.5 allow local users to execute commands as root after a root login. The appliance account owns and can modify /etc/profile.d/login.sh, which the shell executes when root subsequently logs in. Exploitation requires local administrative CLI access and a later root login, after which injected commands run with root privileges.
