Stored XSS via allowed .m3u8a attachment upload
Published Mar 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in ShowDoc before 2.10.4 allows remote authenticated users to run script in another user's browser via a file upload. AttachmentModel::isAllowedFilename treats the .m3u8a suffix as an allowed attachment type, so attacker-controlled active content is stored and served. An account capable of uploading an attachment and a user who opens it are required; the script executes in the viewer's ShowDoc origin.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
