Stored XSS via unblocked SHTML uploads
Published Mar 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in ShowDoc before 2.10.4 allows remote authenticated users to run script in another user's browser through a file upload. AttachmentModel::isDangerFilename fails to reject filenames containing .shtm, leaving an uploaded SHTML document available from the web application. A low-privileged account can store the payload, and execution occurs when another user opens the file, allowing the script to read or alter data available to that browser session.
