Pre-auth root code execution via unchecked filenames
Published Jul 21, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Path traversal in affected ABB flow computers and remote controllers allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code as root. The Totalflow TCP file-download handler accepts unchecked filenames, allowing traversal outside tfData to read and write arbitrary files. Network access to TCP port 9999 is required; attackers can obtain root credentials, alter SSH settings, and disrupt measurement operations.
