Code execution via insufficient comment sanitization
Published Mar 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Template injection in Microweber before 1.3 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted stored comment body. AdminCommentController sanitizes comment_body with generic HTML and XSS cleaners before converting Markdown to HTML, leaving template syntax insufficiently neutralized; the patch replaces those cleaners with HTMLClean::onlyTags. Exploitation requires administrative interaction with the stored comment, and successful payloads can compromise application data and service availability.
