Application crash via incorrect row-size calculation
Published Mar 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Heap buffer overflow in LibTIFF 3.9.0 through 4.3.0 allows remote attackers to crash tiffcrop by supplying a crafted TIFF file. ExtractImageSection calculates the bytes in an image row with the wrong formula, causing a copy beyond the heap buffer during section extraction. A user or automated workflow must process the file with tiffcrop; published impacts include a crash and possible disclosure, with no reported integrity effect.
