CVE-2022-0878Public exploit

Charging interruption via repeated busy-channel preambles

Published Apr 12, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Denial of service in Combined Charging System 2.0 and HomePlug Green PHY 1.1 allows physically proximate attackers to abort DC charging sessions. Repeated over-the-air transmission of a standard HPGP preamble makes both PLC modems continuously sense a busy channel and back off until ISO 15118 or DIN 70121 timeouts terminate charging. The attack requires temporary proximity and a software-defined radio; it interrupts charging without reported long-term vehicle damage.
