Expired-account access via omitted PAM account management
Published Mar 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Missing authorization in Gogs before 0.12.5 allows remote attackers with expired PAM accounts or passwords to authenticate. PAMAuth calls Authenticate but omits AcctMgmt, so PAM account and password expiration checks are skipped. Exposure requires a Gogs installation configured to use PAM; the accepted account gains the access assigned to its Gogs identity.
