CVE-2022-0866Network attack vector

Cross-user information access via shared RunAs identity

Published May 10, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Incorrect authorization in WildFly 11 through 26.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to read other application users' information. EJBComponent stores the pre-switch SecurityIdentity in one shared incomingRunAsIdentity field, so overlapping RunAs calls make getCallerPrincipal() or isCallerInRole() use another call's identity. Exploitation requires Elytron, a RunAs-enabled EJB, and concurrent calls from multiple users; exposure is limited to application-scope data.
