Unauthenticated SQL execution via AJAX parameters
Published May 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
SQL injection in the ssema SEMA API WordPress plugin before 4.02 allows remote attackers to read or modify database data through an AJAX request. The get_semadata AJAX action places attacker-controlled catid and attrids values into SQL statements without adequate sanitization or escaping. Crafted UNION or time-delay expressions reach the WordPress database without authentication, exposing stored records and permitting changes within the application's SQL privileges.
