Unauthenticated settings access and system fingerprinting
Published Mar 10, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper access control in McAfee WebAdvisor Chrome and Edge extensions 8.1.0.1895 and earlier allows remote attackers to read system details. Trellix has not published the extension handler, request path, or missing authorization check that exposes those resources. No account or user interaction is required; access can fingerprint the host, alter WebAdvisor settings, and let malicious content avoid execution when McAfee software is detected.
