Localhost access via unchecked HTTP redirects
Published Mar 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
SSRF in Calibre-Web before 0.6.17 allows remote authenticated users to make the server request localhost through an HTTP redirect. The save_cover_from_url function validates only the initial cover URL, then requests it with redirects enabled without checking the redirected destination. A user with cover-upload permission can direct the application into sending GET requests to local HTTP services, while the returned content is handled only as cover-image data.
