Authenticated browser script execution via retained inline events
Published Apr 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in the Loco Translate editor before 2.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to inject JavaScript through source strings. The editor outputs source translation strings without properly removing inline event attributes, so crafted content remains executable in the admin panel. Translator or Administrator access is required by default, and the payload runs when a user opens the affected editor view, enabling script execution in that user's browser.
