Browser script execution via unescaped Host header
Published Mar 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Reflected XSS in Hestia Control Panel before 1.5.9 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through the Host header. The web UI's shared title template inserts the HTTP Host value into the HTML title element without entity encoding, so a crafted hostname becomes markup. Exploitation requires a user to load a panel response through an attacker-controlled hostname, exposing that browser session to script execution.
