Authenticated script execution via unescaped success messages
Published Mar 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Hestia Control Panel before 1.5.9 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser. Multiple web templates render session success messages directly into HTML without encoding; the patch centralizes this output and applies htmlentities. A victim must view the affected panel response, allowing attacker-controlled script to act with that browser's panel-origin access.
