Admin-level stored XSS via unescaped settings output
Published Apr 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in PootlePress Easy Smooth Scroll Links before 2.23.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via plugin settings. The options page stores text-field values such as Scroll Speed and prints them without output escaping, so HTML and script markup reaches the browser. Administrator-level access is required even when unfiltered_html is disabled, and a user must load the affected page for the stored script to run.
