Administrator account takeover via select-file DOM XSS
Published Nov 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 25, 2025
DOM-based XSS in Microweber 1.3.1 allows remote attackers to take over an administrator account through a crafted select-file URL. The files-module route processes the select-file fragment so an injected quote and onload handler become executable browser markup. Exploitation requires an administrator to open the malicious link; the script then sends authenticated API requests that replace the account email address.
