Admin-level stored script execution via unescaped settings
Published Mar 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in WP Home Page Menu before 3.1 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute script in browsers. The plugin stores its home-page menu settings without sanitization and later inserts those values into generated page markup without output escaping. Administrator access is required even when unfiltered_html is disabled, and another user must load the affected output for the stored script to run.
