CVE-2022-0639Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Security-control bypass via omitted empty userinfo

Published Feb 17, 2022 · Updated Dec 16, 2025

Incorrect URL parsing in Unshift.io url-parse before 1.5.7 allows remote attackers to bypass security decisions via crafted URLs. The toString routine omits an empty userinfo marker from special-scheme URLs with no host, converting an invalid input into a valid href whose pathname becomes the host. Exploitation requires a consuming application to authorize using hostname or origin and then request the reconstructed href, enabling access to a destination that the application intended to reject.
