Subscriber image insertion via missing authorization checks
Published Apr 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Authorization bypass in ThirstyAffiliates before 3.10.5 allows remote authenticated users to alter affiliate links by adding external images. The ta_insert_external_image action accepts requests without authorization or CSRF validation and writes an attacker-supplied external image URL to an affiliate link. A Subscriber-level account is sufficient for direct abuse, while CSRF can induce a logged-in user to perform the request; the documented impact is unauthorized integrity modification without confidentiality or availability impact.
