Renderer code execution via Animation use-after-free
Published Apr 4, 2022 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Use-after-free in Google Chrome’s Animation component before 98.0.4758.102 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted HTML. Google has not published the affected object, lifetime transition, or dangling-reference operation that causes the Animation component to reuse freed memory. Reaching the flaw requires a user to load attacker-controlled content; observed campaigns delivered a renderer exploit through hidden iframes and did not expose the recovered sandbox-escape stage.
