CVE-2022-0562Public exploit

Application crash via zero-length null-source copy

Published Feb 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Null pointer dereference in LibTIFF 4.0.0 through 4.3.0 allows local users to crash TIFF-processing applications via a crafted file. TIFFReadDirectory in tif_dirread.c passes a null td_sampleinfo source to memcpy when malformed extra-sample metadata leaves the copy length at zero. Successful exploitation requires an application to parse the crafted TIFF and terminates the affected process, without reported data disclosure or modification.
