CVE-2022-0532Network attack vector

Host sysctl modification via namespace misvalidation

Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Incorrect sysctl validation in affected CRI-O releases allows remote authenticated users to alter host kernel parameters through a crafted pod. When a pod shares host network and IPC namespaces, pinns applies safe-listed pod sysctls to the host instead of an unshared pod namespace. The user must be authorized to create such a pod; the resulting host sysctl write can expose host data or disrupt node services.
