Improper access control in Linux kernel KVM before 5.17-rc4 allows local users to write memory through SIDA operations. The kvm_s390_guest_sida_op ioctl path accepts SIDA read and write operations for normal guests because it omits the required protected-guest check. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access to an s390 KVM host and permits unauthorized guest-memory writes without user interaction.
