CVE-2022-0512Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authorization bypass via first-at delimiter parsing

Published Feb 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Authorization bypass in Unshift.io url-parse before 1.5.6 allows remote attackers to evade hostname-based access controls. The URL constructor treats the first at sign as the end of userinfo, so a later at sign can shift the hostname consumers evaluate. Exploitation requires an application to authorize an attacker-supplied URL using the parsed hostname; the bounded consequence is an unauthorized destination choice.
