Stored XSS via unsanitized banner text
Published Aug 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Ryan Petersen Simple Banner before 2.12.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via banner settings. The plugin stores Simple Banner Text without proper sanitization or escaping, so a crafted payload executes when the banner is rendered in a viewer's browser. Exploitation requires a high-privilege WordPress account, including where unfiltered_html is disallowed, and affects browser-side confidentiality and integrity.
