Stored XSS via unsanitized Activity URL attribute
Published Mar 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in WP Cerber Security, Anti-spam & Malware Scan before 8.9.6 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser. The Activity tab places the attacker-controlled $url value into a dashboard link attribute without sanitization, allowing an injected mouseover handler to persist. No authentication is needed to store the payload, but an administrator must open the Activity tab and move the pointer over the crafted link; execution then occurs with that administrator's browser privileges.
